Kotendo arose out of the COVID-19 pandemic, procrastination from work at home, depression from social distance and disappointment in the world, Dungeons & Dragons over Zoom …
As if masochistically with even more time in front of the computer, it began as an attempt to program in C++ a science-fiction simulation video game, inspired by Dwarf Fortress, but repetitive stress injury befell the programmer. That game is set on a generational spaceship in a procedurally generated galaxy with alternate physics, in which Kepler discovered that orbits were orthogonal and spaceships must tack. These plans may yet come to fruition in the distant future, but for now the code sits gathering ethereal dust.
